Wildlife of Manali by visiting the National Parks and Sanctuaries

Manali's wildlife remains undiscovered by most of the tourists on their visit to the place as most of the time they remain fascinated by the snow, for which it is quite well known around the country. The birds in the sanctuary are quite attractive and you can find a number of migratory birds here like the Asian Fairy Bluebird, Himalayan Griffon Vulture, Grey Heron, Woodcock and many more. Presence of trees such as Deodar, Maple, Chest Nut and Kail add to the beauty of the place.

The Great Himalayan National Park is yet another interesting place where you can visit on your holiday trip to Manali. If you want to get lost in the dense forest and admist the alpine pastures then this National Park is just the perfect place. Tourists can also enjoy trekking at Rakti-Sar. The Chail Wild life Sanctuary has a long history associated with it. It was once the hunting ground of Patiala Bhupinder Singh. This hill station was founded after the king was restricted from entering the place after he eloped with the daughter of another king. It was in the year 1976 when the place was declared as wild life sanctuary. Angling is a very popular activity in the place. One can frequently see people catching Mahaseer fish in Gaura River.
